March 2012 Luxe Box

This month’s Luxe Box was a complete surprise to me! I had been chatting to my friend Sarah for a while now and we were both really excited to get our box. I checked on Loose Button's twitter on Monday and had saw a tweet from someone asking when exactly the Luxe Boxes were being shipped, a member from the Loose Button team had replied and said sometime next week. I unassuming thought it was next week (Week of the 26th)but I was wrong.

(Shout out to Sarah for letting me know her Luxe Box arrived otherwise I wouldn't have know to go check my mailbox!)

This month I did not receive either the Loose Button e-mail or the tracking number..ohh well. This way it is a true surprise you'll never know when it arrives haha!

I felt like my box was relatively light but I'll have to say the products were very nice..

This month we are back to our standard yet sleek black Luxe Box..

Here is a quick glimpse of the products I received; in total there were 4 items (I am counting the perfume samples as one thing)

Here is this month's product card which had a really nice design inside..

along with this members also received this card..
The coolest part is that it is made out of recycled materials.. It was really nice because the card was an appreciation to subscribers for helping Loose Button grow into the community that it is now. The card contains seeds in it so you can plant the paper in soil "Loose button would like to invite you to nurture this plant to beautify your home"...I thought that was really sweet.
Happy Birthday Loose Button!
Onto the detailed review of the products?!

1st product- My Scent Program Bundle

This is a perfume sample program that enables members of Luxe Box community to test out different scents. Like I said with perfume samples previously I love when they do this as an added touch. However, when the products are not that great and they throw in a perfume it kinda sucks. Overall I am pleased and I love this month’s perfumes… It is lovely how they add more than one! The scents came in this black sheer sash kind of bag, surprisingly there were no repeats (I have already received Nina Ricci Samples). The three scents were:

1) CK -Shock (45$ for 50mL)
2) Vera Wang -Love struck ( $79 for 50mL)
3) Marc Jacobs -Oh Lola! ( $79 for 50mL)
* all samples were 1.2 mL*
I just tested them and would have to say that Shock, and Oh Lola! are my fave

2nd Product- Cargo Eyeshadow

This was a part of the featured products for the first in line product. I got lucky.. when I went to reserve a product it said that the shadow had reached the reservation limit..so I picked the Cargo glitter coat and guess what, I ended up getting both products!

Beautiful duo..it reminds me of Neapolitan Ice cream haha. It comes in this tin pot and includes 2 colors,a soft pink paired with a light chocolate brown. This is a huge shadow compared to other brands such as Mac.. This  retails for 16$.
(this is 3g and I believe it is the Full Size)

3rd product- Cargo Glitter top coat eyeliner

This is the product I reserved for this month, it is a very nice size sample.. it is 2.8 mL and the full size is sold for $18. It is a translucent base/ color with silver and blue glitter in it. I love how beautiful it looks on the eye.. it is perfect for parties or night time looks.

and last but not least..
4th product- J.R Watkins hand and Body lotion
This cream came in the cutest bottle haha! It has 29mL of product and the full size ( 325 mL) retails for $10..although it is a nice cream the scent is very overpowering. When you smell it you just get a waft of a strong lavender scent which I am not a big fan of. I will use it anyways, probably through it in my purse. Very cute to go size.. ( out of everything it’s the product I am least excited about)

Overall opinion: Loving this box! I mentioned on last month's  feedback survey form how I loved getting a variety of items but I hardly got makeup.. I have received a lot of hair and nail care.. and what do you know, this month I got two makeup products! Thank you Loose Button for another wonderful Luxe Box & Happy 1st Birthday!
*Care to share?? What did you receive in your March*
*Luxe Box?*

xo!

Revlon Custom Eyes Palette
This palette is a beautiful mix of earthy tones, both light and natural, perfect for day to day wear. It comes with 5 beautiful shades all ranging from a light browny off white shade to a lovely darker purple and hazel color. The shadows  have very good pigmentation and are not overly shimmery.. very true to their color!

This particular palette is in the number
10- Sweet Innocence..
The shadows also have a very cool quilted appearance.
It comes with a unique sponge that has two different sides, one is the traditional sponge applicator that comes with most shadows, and the other one is slightly skinnier and more rounded. This side is perfect for getting the shadow in the crease area and really defining it whereas the normal side is great for applying shadow all over to the lid.
The back of the shadow packaging comes with a picture to help guide a person when applying the colors. It numbers the colors and shows the preferred location of them
( lid, crease, brow etc..)

Benefit’s  High Beam

I have always really liked the concept of luminescent highlighter that would brighten up my complexion but I had never really considered buying one. For a while now I have been reading and watching videos on Benefit’s ever popular highlighters/tints. My favorites initially were Sun Beam, and Moon Beam.
I  finally decided to purchase one (Sun Beam) and was thrilled by my purchase; I came home and tried it right away. I was a bit disappointed because I didn’t really see a big difference..the color twinkled and shimmered when I put it on but a little while later it was gone, almost as though it had settled in my skin. I didn’t buff Sun Beam in instead I patted the product to make sure I didn’t rub it into my foundation, I tried it again another time but experienced the same problem. I think part of the problem was that the tint wasn’t suitable for my skin color..I loved the color in the bottle, but it wasn’t practical. I wouldn’t say my skin is overly fair but it isn’t deep either..I think this is meant for those who have a lighter complexion hoping to add a bit of dimension to their face by adding that sun kissed dewy look.

In the end I ended up going back to the store in the hopes to swap the product for either Moon Beam, or High Beam. I was going to go with Moon Beam but the didn`t have it so I ended up going with High Beam.

I am so happy that it worked out this way, I think I would have experienced the same dilemma with Moon beam because it is more pearly pink based. I have to be careful with Pink shades because it looks very unnatural and kinda of cakey on my skin.

I tried this out for the first time today and was super pleased, it left me with this  healthy glow that lasted the whole day. I applied some on my cheekbones and on my brow bone and it definitely made my makeup pop!

Loving this product cannot wait to use it more!:) Ohh and I believe It was 34$ somewhere in and around there. I have plenty of more blogs to come..I have been jotting down a list of possible ideas, anyways Goodnight and I hope you all have a great weekend!

    New Vera Wang Perfume

I am not too sure if this perfume is just new to me or a completely new addition to the collection. Either ways it is beautiful and smells delicious! I love Vera Wang perfumes manly for the bottle haha, but I have never been a fan of the scents. I have tried numerous variations of the perfume but was never 100% sold on it.

Today I stopped off at Shopper on the way home, and while cashing out I saw this perfume on the front stand. It was on sale for 49$.. I would describe it as sweet, flirty, fruity andddd florally all in one.. the smell is absolutely incredible!

The bottle is the best part, it is the standard heart shaped packaging however it is covered with black gems, that have purple undertones. It caught my eye instantly, sitting on the shelve just glimmering.

Another perfume that kind of reminds me of this one in terms of the sweetness is Prada Candy!

Can I see myself purchasing this..YES!
It takes me a while to find a fragrance that I really like, and this happens to one that I can see myself using regularly:)

Luxe Box First In line Program
I just checked my e-mail and awaiting me was two emails from Loose Button announcing their “First in Line Program” for the month of March! I clicked on the link, and the items that were chosen for this month were displayed.

There were 3 different items, two of which were beauty items..and the last being a hair care product.

1st Product- Cargo Single Eyeshadow
2nd Product- Cargo Glitter Top Coat
And lastly..Fekkai Hair care Samples

The reservation limit has been reached for the single eyeshadow, but the glitter top coat and the hair products are still available. I chose the Cargo glitter top coat thinking it was like a mascara?! I searched it online though and it is liquid eyeliner.. I am excited to try this out because I don't have many glitter liners. I do have one but it a very sheer silver and it is hardly visible, so this will give me the opportunity to try one out. I  never heard of "Cargo" either until recently so this is another perk...trying a makeup company I am unfamiliar with.

Reserving a product for this month’s March Luxe Box ends
tomorrow (March 12th @ 12:00pm) so any Loose Button Members who haven’t done so should!

New Sally Hansen Nail Polish Collection

I am absolutely obsessed with this collection, although the Gem crush colors are beautiful and bedazzled; I am more drawn to the Smooth Perfect Color care line.

The line includes the most beautiful, soft, spring pastel colors that will look nice on any skin tone.  I am a big fan of light pastel nail colors primarily because dark colors look really harsh on my skin tone. These colors are perfect for the upcoming season.

There are 8 different shades in this collection:
-Fog
- Linen
- Dune
- Satin
- Whisper
- Air
- Sea
&
Sorbet
I am tempted to by every shade and I probably will haha!

Top Left: Sea & Air..and Below ( left) Fog & Satin
..and this shelve also Fog & satin..plus whisper ( which is the light lavender pastel)

Check out Sally Hansen's website for all the swatches

Overall like I said I love everryy color! I would probably leave out Dune, and Fog because I have similar colors.

I saw these at both Wal- Mart and Shoppers..I know what I am purchasing on my next visit J
On the website it states that this is a new patent formula that is streak free..and it also says  it allows 20% more oxygen. I guess the formula is lighter so air can get to your nails and breath. That’s pretty neat and I am super excited to give these a try!
Next....Gem Crush!

There are 8 new shade in this line as well..all soo gorgeous!

Left to right: Big money, Bling- tastic, Razzle dazzler, Lady luck, Cha- ching!
On the end there is another polish ( purple shade) it just got cut off..the name is Be- Jewelled

...Also there are two shades missing and they are: Glitz gal & Snowgirl Chic

These are so affordable as you can see they were on for $5.97 (Wal-Mart).. I know for sure that Shoppers was a couple bucks higher in price.

These two collections are so nice.. The Smooth Perfect line is very elegant while the Gem Crush polishes add that perfect hint of glitz to an everyday look.

Hope you enjoyed this quick polish blog! More to come soon<3

Lip Products I have been using
lately..

Winter is definitely the season here in Canada for severely chapped lips. I have been having such dry lips it is unbelievable.. We haven't experienced much snow but the dry cold is killer! Here are some products I have been using and my brief opinions of them.

Maybelline Baby Lips

Baby Lips Lip balms are uhhmmazzing! I really like them, they go on very smooth. The formula is not to waxy or wet. It glides on perfectly and nourishes your lips.

The Blue one is a clear one and personally my favorite. I put this on all the time..I even use this as a primer for my lips. I find that sometimes when I  put on other lip products it automatically makes my lips feel stiff and crackled so to eliminate that I put his under and it makes my lips baby smooth.

The orange and purple packaged products are colored..one is a cherry red color, and the other is a peachy nude. The both go on very sheer..the colors are not to dark or pigmented, it leaves a hint of color which I prefer.

I bought two of them, and received one from a friend. They can be purchased at Wal-Mart, Superstore (if you live in Canada), and I believe Shoppers Drug Mart.  Wal- mart was the cheapest I believe it was like $3.99, at Super Store it was 4$. I have also heard that you can purchase them at Target if you live in the States.

I definitely give these a thumbs up, if your looking for something to quench your lips with or without a hint of color...then this is for you:)

Next up is EOS- Evolution of Smooth Balms

Eos Lip Balms are soo nifty! I love the packaging of products so this is something that really appeals to me. It comes in this sphere shaped container. They come in different flavors and all of them go on clear ( some Eos are medicated as well for severely chapped lips!)

These lip balms are more waxy than the Baby lips, I put this on before going to bed and when I wake up my lips are so plump and smooth. The three I have are Sweet mint, Summer fruit, and Honeysuckle Honeydew. My favorite is summer fruit, it reminds me of fuzzy peaches yum!! They are said to be 95% organic, and 100% natural. They smell delicious and really work, I always keep one handy and reapply any time I feel my lips start to dry out. They also contain Shea Butter, and vitamin E which is an added bonus!

Sephora- Super nourishing Lip Balm

This one is almost done:( I have used it quite a bit.. It has a lovely vanilla scent which is not too over powering. Baby lips is the most wet ( not in a sticky way) and Eos is the most thickest/ waxiest so I would say that this balm would fit in the middle in terms of the formula. I think it was 6$, if I was asked to repurchase I probably would

And lastlyyyy..

  Revlon Lip Butters

Crème Brule & Creamsicle

Both light colors, these are tinted balms which leave more color than Baby Lips..they have a hint of shimmer and frostiness to them. They go on very nice compared to a lip stick and leave your lips buttered. I looked a long time for these..going back and forth between Wal- Mart & Shoppers. I finally found them at a Wal-Mart near my university. They were in the seven dollar range, I cannot remember the exact price. I want to get one more..perhaps a soft pink color.

And that’s it some lip products I have been using! If I try some more out I will be sure to make an updated post! Byee

Back to School

I wish I had something more exciting to talk about but unfortunately I don't... This was my first week back to school after a one week study break. All I can say is Buhh Byeee freedom, and relaxation haha! It sucks:(

Reading week was pretty good though, I met up with friends, family and worked ohhh and I went shopping... that was about it. The upcoming weeks are getting more and more stressful but I am trying to look at it in a more positive light. I am done school in April !  I cannot wait for my holidays to start, I have a whole list of things I want to accomplish.

Instead of doing the typical boring textbook reading ( Which I should be doing)  I have been reading a lot of leisurely material. I have whizzed through books so fast, I have lists upon lists of books I want to read but some of the ones I have finished lately are:

- Chain Reaction ( Did a post about this series)
- Leaving Paradise
- Return to Paradise
&........
Cross my Heart
They were honestly so incredibly good and I loved each and everyone, the current book I am reading is called " Two Way Street"...and I think I should give Hunger Games an attempt because there is a big buzz about that series. I never understand the hype books have until I read them myself so I will definitely have to give this series a try:)

Anyways I hope next time I post it will be about something more exciting but I felt like doing something anyways! I hope everyone is doing well, until next time take care & enjoy your weekend:)
